Vintage Afghan handwoven flatweave cotton dhurrie rug. Full of minute details and a bold, expressive design, combined with lush colors, this room-size handwoven vintage Afghan Dhurrie wool rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The abrashed field is covered with a repeating geometric design consisting of juxtaposed star motifs arranged in five vertical columns. Triangular amulets are symmetrically interspersed among the star motifs, underscoring the authentic and archaic spirit of tribal art. It is surrounded by a series of geometric fringes that work together to fully encapsulate the viewer with this piece. In the 1970s, in the central knotting centers such as Kabul and Mazar-e-sharaif, especially from prisoners in prisons in Kabul, very elaborately worked cotton kilims were made.
