Very rare and unique antique baby cradle from Tashkurgan North Afghanistan
Antique children's cradle from Tashkurgan Nor-Afghanistan. Slatted bed with a hole in the middle, flat arched supports with spindles at both ends, joined at the top by a thick turned handle. At the bottom at each end a curved board for rocking.
Uzbek cradles in the past in Kholm, formerly known as Tashqurghan Such cradles were used in the era of nomadic life. They were made in the following way: two bows made of willow wood with a thick wrist were connected with sticks inserted into the holes at the ends of the bows. Ribbons stretched from willow were woven between the sticks and a small pillow was spread on the ground. Subsequently, the construction of the Kholm Uzbek cradle, formerly known as Tashqurghan, was improved. The cradle was made using a cultuk - a hole connected to the pot. As a result, the child stayed dry longer and the mother was less distracted from work to care for him. In addition, rocking cushions were made in Beshik so that the child could quickly calm down from motion sickness.
