=====================================
A different weaving technique is used for the sumakh than for the slit kilim. With the so-called sumakh stitch, the weft thread, which leads to the formation of the pattern, is brought back on the left side and looped so that it returns to the surface and can be continued to form a pattern.
The fabric is given additional support by a firm, woolen weft thread.
Kilims served and still serve the nomads as floor coverings. They insulate against the cold and are also decorative pieces. Small pieces are the prayer rugs, also tent curtains, bags, cushions are made from it.
