Very rare war carpet from Afghanistan - hand-knotted.
The balanced composition of this finely crafted carpet contains, in addition to the war motifs, in particular the many tanks in the middle field, a peaceful arrangement of water jugs and a tree of life, which are placed on a table and are reminiscent of the elementary needs of man.
Size: approx. 195 x 111 cm (6.4 x 3.6 feet)

Symbols of war and peace characterize an exceptional category of Afghan tapestries. The war in Afghanistan (since 1980) forms the background for this imaginative art. Carpets with tanks, rockets and assault rifles, but also with tree of life and mosque motifs, tell a story. They are pictures weaved against the forgetting of terrible war experiences.
Genuine, oriental carpets are fundamentally different from mass-produced goods from the Far East. Each piece is hand-knotted and unique! Irregularities in shape, color or material are no reason for complaint. These properties make each individual item a collector's item and underline the authenticity of the goods.
