Nomad yurt decorative band from Afghanistan Uzbekistan
In Central Asia, the walls of palaces, as well as simple dwellings and yurts, were decorated with spectacular hangings known as suzani (the Afghan word for needlework). Suzanis serve to decorate the wedding hall, as a canopy for the bride and groom and as a cover on the wedding bed. The main fill stitch for the leaf and petal motifs prevalent in suzani work,

This exquisite piece comes from the Uzbek region of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, and is almost 50-60 years old. It features traditional cotton-based silk thread embroidery and is embellished with tassels and tassels. This makes a priceless wall hanging in a modern home.
