Very rare and unique and very finely hand-woven antique nomad kilim from north-west Afghanistan. (Tribe Baloch - Malaki)

Provenance: Malaki, Chakansur District, Farah Province, northwestern Afghanistan.
Size: Approx. 240x50cm
Produced: First third of the 20th century.
Warp: Strong wool yarn, light natural, handspun.
Sample weft: Wool yarn, handspun, Z-spin, untwisted, 1 thread 2 compartments, 108 threads on 10 cm.
Weaving technique: stripe palas, in between narrow zigzag rows in nagaschabaf and sumakh technique.
Colours: Plant and natural colours
Kilims served and still serve the nomads as floor coverings. They insulate against the cold and are also decorative pieces. Small pieces are the prayer rugs, also tent curtains, bags, cushions are made from it.
*Real antique oriental carpets are fundamentally different from mass-produced goods knotted in manufactories. Each piece is hand-knotted and unique! Irregularities in shape, color or material are no reason for complaint. These properties make every single carpet a collector's item and underline the authenticity of the goods.
