The most important instrument of the music of the Baloch, which was influenced by wandering dervishes, is the sorud or qeychak called fiddle. It plays a special role in the zikr-like quati chants for healing the possessed and the qalandari chants in honor of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

The bowl-shaped short-necked violin shown here has a sympathetic string and 8 playing strings that run over individual bridges on the edge of the neck. The bridge resting on the lower body covered with animal skin has the shape of "castle battlements.
