Antique Islamic Heavy Handmade Stone Pot from Afghanistan/Pakistan.
Very rare and unique Islamic stone cooking pot from Afghanistan / Pakistan, made from soapstone.
This is an extremely beautiful, fine artefact. This one was found in Afghanistan with a nice looking motif. It is a very interesting display piece for your home with intricately engraved and carved shell. The writing on the bowl is unmistakably Old World. Bowls and jars were common, but in the wilderness most tools were made of stone and pottery. This creation was a simple utility vessel.
This is unique as most of the vessels of this style of stone are flasks or jars.
Vessel decoration took the form of line patterns. This shell was deeply incised both inside and outside the vessel body.
The beautiful motifs were created by making fine , narrow and deep cuts in the stone with a sharp tool .
